Site clearance in Bo Put, Chaweng - Koh Samui

The client - a developer with an active construction portfolio on the island - called us at 9 in the morning. By 11 we were on site together, walking the plot and agreeing on the scope. That evening we mobilised the machinery. Work started the next morning, and three days later the site was clear.

The plot is in Bo Put, close to the temple เจดีย์ศรีสุคตคีรี (เจดีย์เขาหัวจุก) in the Chaweng area. It was heavily overgrown - large trees and palms with deep root systems, uneven ground throughout. The kind of site where you need the right combination of machines and a crew that works at pace.

How the work was done

Before mobilising, we assessed the site and made a deliberate call on equipment. The tractor would handle the bulk of the clearing - pushing, dragging and moving vegetation across the plot. A compact excavator was enough for the large stumps and root extraction; there was no need for a full-size machine. That decision saved the client money on equipment hire, and it meant we could deliver the Yanmar B32 on the same Hino 300 truck that was already working the site - no separate low-loader required.

The Kubota L3608 tractor worked continuously, dragging felled logs and pushing material into loading position. The Hino 300 ran trips to haul everything off site between deliveries.

Some of the stumps were exceptional in size - one was bigger than the driver standing next to it. Getting those out cleanly without damaging the surrounding ground takes patience and the right angle of attack with the bucket.

Three days, clean result

Day one: felling, initial clearing, start on the large stumps. Day two: stump extraction, trees and palms cleared, rough leveling. Day three: final leveling, cleanup, waste removal complete.

The client walked the site at the end of day three and confirmed everything was done to spec. He also proposed continuing the collaboration into the construction phase - the kind of outcome that comes from working fast and keeping the site in order throughout.
