Septic tanks, utilities and site leveling in Maenam

A project in Maenam on a property where the villa construction was already finished. What remained was the sewer connection, the septic tanks, and getting the grounds in order - fill brought in and the surface leveled.

Working in tight spaces

The defining feature of this site was the space. The villas were built, the landscaping partly done, trees already in the ground. Bringing large machinery in here means damaging something, guaranteed.

We used a compact 3-tonne Yanmar. It fits between the buildings, works right up against walls and needs no room to turn. Everything that had to be dug was dug, without touching a single structure or planting.

Sequence of works

The tanks and septic units went in first - before anything was covered over. Then we cut the trenches for the pipework and utilities, laid them and checked the runs.

With everything in place, the fill started arriving. Our dump truck ran the loop: load, deliver, unload on site. The excavator spread the fill, buried the utilities and brought the overall ground level up.

The final stage was grading - the surface brought level, with water runoff taken into account.

Result

Two to three days and the site was done: septic tanks installed, utilities laid and buried, ground level raised and the surface graded. The work moved fast enough that we never got round to taking "before" photos.
