Waste clearance, fill and leveling of a plot in Bang Rak

A plot of 122 square wah - roughly 488 m² - in Bang Rak, opposite the local health centre. The owner wanted to rent the land out, but it couldn't be shown in the state it was in: dense overgrowth with years of accumulated rubbish underneath. The brief: clear everything, raise the level with fill and grade it flat, ready to hand over to a tenant.

Day one: clearing

The 7-tonne Yanmar excavator stripped the overgrowth together with the waste-laden top layer - there's no point separating that kind of sandwich by hand, the bucket takes it all in one pass. The trucks ran it to the landfill: 10 loads of waste and greenery in a day. By evening the plot stood empty.

Days two and three: soil down the mountain

The fill came from a quarry at Maenam Soi 1 - and that was the trickiest part of the job. The way out is a long, steep descent, and the truck goes down loaded. On runs like that everything comes down to the driver: speed, engine braking, distance. Our drivers know this route well - all 20 runs went without a hitch.

On site, the usual trio did the work: the truck tips, the Kubota tractor spreads the soil across the plot, the excavator trims along the retaining wall and in the corners the tractor can't reach. That's why the fill and grading took only two days.

Result

Three days - and a rubbish-choked wasteland became a clean, raised, level plot behind a new fence line. The owner got land he can show to tenants without apologising for it.
